
With over 30 years' experience in accounting roles of various kinds behind him, Garry decided in 2006 to start his own practice. He felt the time was right to take his success as a financial trouble-shooter for a range of commercial organisations and to build his own business - helping independent business owners to achieve their objectives by removing some of the headaches preventing the successful development of their business.
A CIMA member for more than 20 years, Garry has wide-ranging experience of industry and personal finance. As a company accountant for 10 years, he supported businesses in the construction, civil engineering, general building, warehousing, transportation and distribution sectors of industry.
During this period, Garry was part of a small team that rescued, then turned around a business that was struggling to survive. He went on to help restructure the business in such a way that they were prepared for a stock market listing.
Operating as a financial controller and finance director, he spent 12 years in the import/export area, specialising in clothing and consumer goods imported from the Far East.
Responsible for cash flow management, treasury functions and international trade requirements, Garry was personally involved in setting up some of the international operations of the group.
Garry’s corporate experience includes the complete range of accounting and management tasks - from internal management accounting to support decision-making within the business, to the handling of external investors, banks and government institutions.
He has performed the role of Company Secretary for many years and has also acted as a pension scheme trustee during a period of substantial change, both within the company and the pensions industry as a whole. In addition, he was, at various times, involved in or responsible for the selection and implementation of IT systems, both financial and operational.
